Giveaway no. 3: Fit To Be Tied, or Something for the Boys

This week's giveaway offers a more manly prize than the previous two...

This week's winner will receive:

1. Three vintage ties including...

One nice wide 40s rayon tie, in a terrific brown, green, yellow, and white pattern. This bad boy has cut a few rugs in its day, but will still see you through the next lindy hop!

One spiffy not-so-wide 50s all silk Vogue tie in deep red with a black pattern and silvery-white crescent and dots. This tie loves cool jazz and narrow lapels!

One snappy bow tie in maroon with a multicolor geometric pattern. Adjustable neck band with hook and loop. In terrific condition. This is one dapper dandy in search of a porkpie (hat)!

2. Vintage shot glass with a monocled and mustached man whose googly eye follows you. "I say, jolly what!"

3. Vintage Yello-Bole pipe - cleaned, sweetened, and ready to light up or just display. Yello-Bole pipes have a bowl that has been "treated" with honey to enhance one's pipe-smoking enjoyment ;)

4. And, last, but not least, a pretty vintage pinup girl arcade card. She may have a few wrinkles but she's still lovely to look at and a pleasure to behold.

To enter this week's giveaway, leave a comment below and tell me who you think epitomizes the manly man of yesteryear (could be an actor or political figure or singer or relative or ?).

New followers will receive an extra entry, just make sure to mention this in your comment. If you post this giveaway on your blog, tweet about it on twitter, or post a link to it on facebook, you'll receive an extra entry - just be sure to let me know in the comment section.

Entries will be accepted until midnight on Friday, February 19. I'll be drawing and posting the winner's name on Saturday.

Good Luck!

Ooooh! My husband would flip if I won this! Gosh, just one guy to pick? I have always been partial to Frank Sinatra. He sings, dances and looks good in a suit!

Hi there. I'm a new follower and would love to enter, even though I don't have a man in my life ;]
And for the answer to your question, I would have to say Frank Sinatra.

Ooh, I would love to enter your giveaway! I'm also a new follower... As for the question, I would have to say: Cab Calloway! ;)

What a fab giveaway! I would love to enter and am of course now following you too. My manly man of yesteryear would have to be Cary Grant!

However my own man epitomises everything I love about men of the past. He dresses in incredibly sharp suits every day (he's a tailor), has a magnificent handlebar moustache, winks at me regularly, whistles incredibly well... all the lost arts of manliness hehe! ;)

Oh, and he is a gentleman too! Shouldn't forget that part! Anyway, I am about to tweet your comp, so please consider this comment another entry! :D

Of course, these are all fine and good chaps that have been mentioned, but how can Ronnie Poulton not even get a mention. 'Ronnie who?', I hear you all type furiously. England Rugger captain in 1914, tweed wearer extraordinaire, pipe smoker, ruggedly handsome, socially aware, Oxford educated and died in the service of the country he loved in 1915. This man epitomises all facets a Manly Man must have, soldier, sportsman, scholar and sensitive side. Ladies and Gentlemen, my vote goes with Ronald William Poulton (later Palmer).

Pip pip.

Hi there!

I'm a new follower and am so excited about this giveaway! My nomination for manly man of yesteryear is Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. I consider him to be the height of manly grace. (He's also my top classic film crush! ;)

I'd love to win these ties for my brother. He's 17 and loves swing dancing. He says dressing up for the dances is one of the best parts of the experience. I've been looking around for a spiffy 40's tie for him and boy is yours a lulu!

And thank you so much for linking me! :D
